Holland and Portugal go head to head on Sunday evening in a match that means so much to both sides, as Paddy Power have announced that they will refund certain losing bets if Robin Van Persie scores at anytime for the Dutch!
Firstly, Holland have surprised everyone with their two defeats in the tournament and last time out against Germany they were very disappointing in the opening 45 minutes.
- BEST BET : Its a no brainer – get on Van Persie to score first for Holland at 6/1 and pick up a £250 free bet with Paddy Power.
Bert van Marwijk made changes at half time and despite his side getting a goal back through Robin Van Persie, they had left themselves too much to do and lost the match 2-1.
It is not all over for Holland though, such have been the results in this group that they could still qualify with a win this time out and hope that Germany beat Denmark.
There is no doubt that if van Merwijk’s men get back to their best they are one of the best sides in world football, however, the Dutch boss will have to reinstall confidence in a squad.
Despite their poor results, Holland are still the favourites to come out on top in this encounter with odds of 13/8.
As for Portugal, they breathed a huge sigh of relief when they grabbed a late winner against Denmark, a result which kept their hopes of qualification alive.
Paulo Bento’s men had led the game 2-0 before being pegged back to 2-2, however an 87th minute Helder Postiga goal gave them all three points.
Bento now knows a win here would see them qualify for the knockout stages but it will be tough against top quality opposition.
Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to impress at the tournament so far, he will have to come to the party if Portugal are to go far in Euro 2012. Ronaldo is without a goal in the competition so far.
In terms of the betting for Bento’s side, they will have to upset the odds to take all three points in this one. You can back them at 5/2.
